Top Tips for Applying for a Job
Executive Director of Health & Accident Underwriting Managers, Darlene Hofman, offers tips to student and graduate career seekers based on her experience of recruiting graduates. Here are her tips for new graduates hoping to enter the job market:
 |
|
• Do not send your CV to an organisation if you do not see yourself working in the industry in which they operate and in the capacity of the position offered;
• Do not send your CV to an organisation unless you have assessed the job specification (i.e. what is required to do the job) against your own qualifications and attributes, be they personal attributes or experience;
• If you send your CV to an organisation – do them the courtesy of having gone into their website and gleaned what industry they are in and details of the available position;
• When you send your CV to an organisation put forward why you feel you would meet the criteria put forward as being necessary for the position AND how you see yourself adding value to the position. |
