A day in the life of...
Why do you do this job? I am passionate about constant improvement and thrive in a dynamic environment with likeminded individuals. BComm. Management Sciences Honns. (Logistics) In House training by Volition What happens 9-5? 7 Hours of hard work; 1 hour of relaxing in the coffee room. Very important to mention though is that this is not a 9-5 job… When you have work you have to do everything in your power to finish it as soon as possible to the best of your ability. We are not bound to time but rather guided by deliverance. Everybody shares a passion for improving the industry they are working in. I am ALWAYS challenged and no two days are the same. People here are extremely friendly and supportive. The best thing about Volition is that you will learn more than you can ever imagine; not just about one industry but across a wide variety of industries. I strive towards being an inspiration to those around me. Not just to my colleagues but also to the clients I work with. Being honorable and having a positive attitude are my key attributes to this team. You will work hard and be challenged far beyond what you thought to be your own limits. In the end the time you invest is the trade-off you make. For me it is worth the time and effort. My mentor, Steven Montgomery, is a great inspiration and person to look up to at work. His moral values and work ethic place him miles ahead of other consultants I have met. Steven, like most of the consultants at Volition are good at what they do because they are well balanced all-round good people.
Why do you do this job? I do it because everyday brings forth different challenges that are intellectually stimulating. I completed a B-Eng in Industrial Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. Interacting with clients and assisting them in making their businesses better through in-depth analysis and implementation of action plans. At Volition you get exposed to many companies within various industries, each with unique challenges. A combination between analytical skills and people skills are really valuable in this line of business. Quite often the work involves implementing changes, and people are resistant to change which can lead to friction in relationships.
